Investigating Desmoid Tumors – Hack4RARE – Team Building

We will go deeper into exploring the Desmoid Tumor mechanisms and therapies, in preparation for a collaboration with People for Rare. We are using the medical mystery case of a patient, who has share full medical history. This is chance to put on out thinking caps and engage in research medicine, and scientific exploration.

MoCo Makers, Captial Area BioSpace, and Rockville Science Center have partnered to put a team together for the 2021 Hack4RARE event – targeting rare genetic conditions. This event is is put on by MIT Hacking Medicine and the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

A previous Hack4RARE talk involved a patient with Desmoid Tumors that is willing to share medical information. See this past video here – https://youtu.be/KjJL5PKtDDw

We intend to pick a hard problem and solve it, as a team. We are also happy to support you, if you are interested in doing a solo-project or a break-out team.

In June we will do team-building exercises, and introduce some of the science behind each of the four possible tracks for the competition. In July we will focus on productive work to solve one of the problems in a competition area. We are focusing on Desmoid Tumors, but we welcome breakout groups in all areas.
